0 2

What are the Best Playstation 4 Games for Kids? There are lots of different games available on the Playsation 4 but it can still be challenging to find the best Playstation 4 games for kids, especially if you are not too familiar with video games. Many video games have a lot of violence or are not suitable for young children. I’ve done the work for you and put together a selection of the 10 best Playstation 4 games for kids. These games are family friendly, not violent, and often can be played with more than one player at the same time. Check them out!

1. Little Big Planet Series – Little Big Planet 3

The series Little Big Planet follows the adventures of Sackboy and has a large emphasis on gameplay rather than being story-driven. All of the games in the series put a strong emphasis on the series’ tagline “Play, Create, Share”. Playing alone or with others online or on the same console, creating new content using the in-game creation tools and sharing creations and discoveries online with other players. In the latest version,  Little Big Planet 3, you explore a world filled with creativity as you explore all corners of the Imagisphere, meet the inhabitants of the mysterious planet Bunkum and face the nefarious Newton. There are three new characters to play as well, which makes co-op even more fun. There is also plenty of costumes to download to make Sackboy look like some of your favorite characters ( like Marvel superheros) and express your individuality.

2. Rocksmith 2014

If you have a child that is musically inclined and is interested in learning how to play an actual real guitar, the Rocksmith series is definately worth checking out. Unlike “rockband” type games where you simply mash buttons on a controller, Rocksmith plugs in with an included cable into a real electrical guitar(you need a real guitar already though). The game visually LOOKs like a rockband game showing notes moving along the screen as you learn to play. There is a career mode and various other modes to advance and learn real guitar playing skills. The really awesome part of this game is that within a few minutes your child will be playing real songs and real music. Perfect for older children.

4.Ratchet & Clank

Based off the film with the same name and a reboot of the franchise from 2002, comes the platform shooter game Ratchet & Clank. This game features Ratchet – who is a Ratchet is a Lombax ( a fictional fuzzy creature with big ears) and his buddy Clank a friendly witty robot. Clank gets several fun upgrade features the more you play. The really neat part of this game is that it matches along to many parts of the movie. The video game frequently breaks the 3rd wall (talking to you playing the game like they know you are playing it) If your kids like the movie or you are looking for a good double bang for your buck – pick up the flick along with the game to let your kids experience “playing a movie”. I wrote a full detailed review of Ratchet & Clank here.

5. Tearaway Unfolded

Teraway Unfolded is only available on the PS4. You play as Iota or Atoi,  who you have to guide through the environment. You interact with the landscape by using various tools and techniques. For example, in order to reach an isolated area, the player might have to bring down a platform by casting a gust of wind, climb onto the platform, and then return the platform to its original position and jump off. You will also collect various collectibles and tools that will be required in order to advance along to the next area. Lots of cute creatures and characters are in this game. Definitely family friendly. Part of the neat part of this game is how it really takes use of the dual shock controller. The light on the front of the controller will light up the screen. You have to tilt the controller to tilt the platform. A gust of wind comes from sliding your finger along the touch pad. Its a really interactive experience.

6.Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Brothers is an adventure game that you guessed it, follows the story of two brothers. One is strong and brave and the other one is more fearful and weak. Each brother is controlled with one thumb stick. They have to work together on an epic adventure to get the “Water of life”. This is a great game that highlight the beneifts of working together. There are some mature themes in here including sickness, death of a loved one and more, so this game is probably better for older children. The game itself is not overly difficult to play, with lots of checkpoint saves close by, but it is more about the story and emotional investment you will have in the characters as they go on their quest. There is a good mixture of humor, triumph, endearing teamwork, and some very sad moments as well. This is a fairy tale, but not everything is happy and peace filled. A very beautiful game and well work having a look at.

Plants Vs Zombies started as a very popular mobile app game where cute little plants take out hordes of cute zombies. Moving to Console – Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is a family friendly shooter without the horror elements. Blast zombies, plants and fun characters across a world that delivers the depth of a traditional online shooter blended with the refreshing humor of Plant vs. Zombies. You can also personalize your characters with fun hats, sunglasses and tons of unique items. There are over 14t otal character classes, and over 100 playable plants and zombies from the past, present, and future. This game does require a Ps4 Plus account for online game play, but split screen and local play is also an option if you don’t have it. This may not be appropriate for all children.
