An April Fools History Lesson

37 1

Why do we play pranks on April 1st? It’s suggested that it goes back to the 16th century.. when the official date of the new year was changed to January 1st. It use to be March 25th. Those who started using the Jan 1st date started “playing jokes and making fun” of those who celebrated on other dates on April 1st…. Which was the end of that old new year.. :)In various countries, it is also called “April Fish” and you slap a cut out fish on someone’s back.

Major Internet companies have spent some serious time and effort creating amazing April fools jokes in the last few years…

No crazy pranks from me… but what are some of the ones you’ve seen this year so far or in previous years…. and remember.. Believe nothing today Internet! 🙂
